OCTOBER 28, 2026 - MECHANICAL TESTS AND RHEOLOGICAL MEASUREMENTS FOR PLASTIC MATERIALS

The course is aimed at those who wish to deepen the topics related to the mechanical and rheological characterization of materials.
The concepts of basic theory of mechanics for viscoelastic materials and the concepts of rheology of viscous fluids will be covered. The laboratory practice and the methodologies necessary to perform mechanical tests and rheological measurements will then be discussed, with examples of the instruments commonly used for these types of characterization.
In particular, the following topics will be addressed: hints of basic theory on the mechanical behavior of materials; methodologies for measuring mechanical characteristics; mechanical testing equipment; outline of the theory of rheology for viscous fluids; rheological characterizations in the laboratory; instrumentation for rheological tests (capillary and rotational viscometers)
